Certification schemes such as BRC, require operators to have processes in place for accessing information on historical and developing threats to their supply chain, such as threats which may present a risk of adulteration or substitution of raw materials. Knowing your materials, ingredients and their associated risks is an essential part of the vulnerability assessment. However, collecting this information can be extremely time consuming – sources are quite disparate and may include trade associations, governments, media and trade associations.
